Sinopsis:
The study of language involves both internal and external perspectives. Internally, writer focus on understanding the language’s internal structures through sub-disciplines such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. These disciplines analyze the inherent systems and components within the language itself, using linguistic theories and methodologies. Conversely, the external perspective widens the scope by examining language in relation to external factors like social dynamics, cultural norms, historical contexts, and cognitive processes. Pragmatics explores how language is used in context to convey meaning beyond literal interpretation, while sociolinguistics investigates the relationship between language and society, addressing language variation and change shaped by social factors. Psycholinguistics studies the psychological processes underlying language acquisition and comprehension, while applied linguistics applies linguistic theories to real-world language-related issues like language teaching, translation, and language policy. Together, these perspectives provide valuable insights into the nature, usage, and impact of language in human communication and society.
